Tashkent Zoo
Tashkent Zoo is a great place for a family holiday. Here you can walk in the shade of trees and look at the life of the inhabitants of various corners of our planet.
History of the zoo
The first Tashkent zoo was founded in 1924. In the past, the complex was located in a different place, on the territory of the modern Babur Ecopark. In the late 1940s, about 200 species of animals were kept there.
They started looking for a site for the modern zoo in the 1980s. The opening of the new complex took place on September 1, 1997, the day of the celebration of Uzbekistan's independence.
Now, on a territory of 21.5 hectares, you can see more than 300 species of animals. Here there are bears, hippos, elephants, zebras, lions, and even giraffes. In the pavilions of the zoo, there is an aquarium, a terrarium, and departments of primates, birds, predators, and invertebrates.
It is convenient to combine a walk around the zoo with a visit to the Tashkent Botanical Garden, which is located nearby.
