Excursion around the territory of the "Institute of the Sun"

The complex is a large open-air plot of land with various structures. The most unusual of them are a site with 62 heliostats and a huge mirror concentrator. The essence of the system's operation is that the sun's rays reflect from the heliostats, are directed to the concentrator's mirrors, are gathered into a beam, and fall into a solar furnace — this is one of the largest such structures in the world. In this way, spacecraft skin is tested here, and carbon and ceramics are produced. The complex was put into operation in 1987.

During the excursion, guests can enter the administrative buildings, walk across the field of heliostats, and climb to the upper levels of the concentrator. This, by the way, is not so easy — you can only make your way up by the stairs. Excellent views of the surroundings open from the top.

After the excursion, guests have free time. You can take a few photos or walk around the objects of the complex again.

You can get here on your own, but it is better to clarify in advance the possibility of holding an excursion on the day of the trip. Also, on the Internet, there are many offers for trips to the "Institute of the Sun" as part of a tour group.

Among other interesting sights in the mountains near Tashkent, one can highlight the Tavaksay valley of waterfalls and the bright Sukok.
