Hotel "Uzbekistan" in Tashkent
Hotel "Uzbekistan" is located in the very center of the Uzbek capital. Even if you do not plan to include this building in your city itinerary, you will probably see it while walking through Amir Temur Square or visiting the Museum of Timurids History.
Tashkent's "Uzbechka"
The 17-story hotel in the style of Soviet modernism was built in 1974. At that time, the hotel had 479 rooms. Now the configuration of the building has changed: today there are 315 rooms of various categories. Locals often call the hotel "Uzbechka". This name has stuck just like in the case of Amir Temur Square, which the hotel's facade faces — residents of Tashkent call it simply the "Square" (Skver).
The hotel is notable not only for its location in the heart of the city, but also for its memorable appearance. The entire area of the building's front facade is covered with sun-shading panels. They are stylized as "panjara" — a traditional oriental lattice.
There are two restaurants in the hotel. One of them is located on the top floor of the building. Its windows offer a great view of the square and the central part of the city.
If you are staying at the hotel or just heading here, you can combine a walk with a visit to the Museum of Timurids History or the Tashkent House of Photography.
