Fine Arts Gallery of Uzbekistan
The Fine Arts Gallery of Uzbekistan will certainly be of interest to all connoisseurs of painting and graphics. Large-scale temporary exhibitions are held here, and the building itself is located right at the exit from the "Mustaqillik Maydoni" metro station.
How to get to the gallery
The Fine Arts Gallery of Uzbekistan is located in a modern building, built in 2004 specifically to house the collection. Despite the fact that the structure looks modern, motifs of the architectural styles of the cities of Uzbekistan — Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva — were used in its design.
The museum has 15 halls; their area is 3 500 square meters. Many of them are used to host exhibitions. The central hall is used as a venue for exhibition opening ceremonies. You will remember it by its huge chandelier.
Most of the halls are occupied by fine arts items, and on the second floor of the gallery there is a small hall with a coin collection.
Please note that the gallery is closed on Sunday and Monday. On other days, the exhibition space halls close quite early: they are available for visiting from 10:00 to 17:00.
Not far from here are the Palace of Prince Romanov, the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan, and Mustaqillik Square.
